In 2000, I also operated a small noodle restaurant in my hometown of Wuchang, Heilongjiang Province. At this time, I distributed a message to the younger brother who distributed the sticky corn in Northeast China. He said: “Sister, I can sell glutinous corn for 2,000 yuan a day. Do you believe that?” At that time, my noodle shop had a turnover of only 600 yuan a day, and frozen sticky corn sold for 2,000 a day. That’s too I was surprised. My younger brother told me that this was because the sticky corn was sold off-season in cities such as Beijing and Shanghai, and the price was several times higher than in the normal season. He also told me that when he was distributing corn in Dalian, he was often out of stock and he wanted to grow in Wuchang, his hometown. Because of lack of funds, he intended to cooperate with me. In the winter of 2001, I turned off the restaurant. The first step was to select the species. My brother and I ran a lot of places to find it. We finally found suitable seeds at the Jiamusi Academy of Agricultural Sciences.
