《故事新编》是了解鲁迅后期创作和思想的重要资源,《故事新编》的“新”与“编”就内含着作者的创作取向和思想特质。具体而言,《故事新编》的“新”包括情节和主题的新变;从神话向小说的转变、间接与隐喻手法的采用、主观化和心理化的大量介入等艺术特征的新变;价值观上的民间立场取向等几个方面。此外,《故事新编》的文章创作时间与文集编排次序的不一致,反映出鲁迅创作思想的前后变化。
