In 2006, the World Health Organization defined the tumor as a controlled chronic noncommunicable disease. However, in our country, the tumor is still a disease with high morbidity, high mortality and high medical resources consumption. It is imperative to use scientific medical resources to prevent and treat cancer scientifically and improve the availability of cancer treatment. On January 23, 2010, the Symposium on Reducing the Burden of Tumors and Improving the Access to Cancer Therapy sponsored by China Oncology Foundation was held in Beijing. Academics and officials from the fields of cancer treatment research, health economics, medical insurance and others came together to try to find out a comprehensive cancer prevention and control path that is in line with China’s national conditions.
