多年来,宁夏群众由于长期饮用水质较差的浅层地下水,身体健康状况受到极大威胁,因此决定了全区人饮工程建设管理工作一定要因地制宜、科学规划、根据当地自然、经济条件和社会发展状况,合理选择饮水工程的类型、规模及标准。既要考虑当前的现实可行性,同时要兼顾今后长远发展的需要,重点加强对饮水水源的论证。全区饮水工程经历了由过去的水塔供水改为现在的全自动变频调速恒压供水,设置水厂,技术先进,节能节耗明显,且操作简单。整个饮水工程从设计、施工到运行管理都有一套较为成熟的经验做法,为饮水工程的建设、管理、利用提供了坚实的技术保证。
