我省潜山县境内,有一座历史悠久的名山——天柱山。春秋后期,潜山县地方被周王朝封为皖国,派大夫皖伯在这里担任行政长官。皖伯宽厚仁慈,治理有方,地方社会安定,百姓安居乐业。当地百姓为了纪念皖伯,便把境内的山称为“皖山”,把境内的水称为“皖水”。所以,天柱山又名“皖山”。后来,强大的楚国吞并了皖国,并在此建立了皖城。正是因为有了这“皖国”、“皖山”、“皖水”和“皖城”,后来才有了安徽省的简称——皖。 Qianshan County in our province, there is a historic mountain - Tianzhushan.
