小孩七岁入学,經过十年,身心就發育成青年人。学生身心的發育都有賴于十年間学校的各种条件,有利的条件可促使学生离校时身心發育健康,愉快而活潑,以备繼續学習、工作和保衛祖国。給学生身心上建立良好的条件是学校衛生防疫工作的主要一面。学校护士的作用是如何当好医师直接的助手,这是非常偉大的工作。她在医师的领导下定期地(多半在春假、暑假和寒假后)檢查学生个人衛生保持到什么程度,查明可疑的皮膚病、眼病或其他傳染病。在預防檢查的基础上,防止学生裝病,但也不准許学生帶病上課。
