侯仁之，１９１１年１２月生，河北枣强人。１９３６年毕业于燕京大学，１９４０年获硕士学位， １９４６年赴英国利物浦大学地理系留学， １９４９年获博士学位后回国任燕京大学教授，兼清华大学营建系教授和北京都市计划委员会委员，１９５２年任北京大学地质地理系主任，１９８０年当选为中国科学院院士， １９８４年被授予利物浦大学荣誉科学博士学位，１９９８年被评为中国科学院资深院士。主要著作有《历史地理学的理论与实践》等，主编的《北京历史地图集》获 １９９５年全国高等学校人文社会优秀研究成果一等奖，获美地理协会“Ｇｅｏｒｇｅ Ｄａｖｉｄｓｏｎ”勋章。
Hou Ren, born in December 1911, Hebei Zaoqiang people. He graduated from Yenching University in 1936 and obtained a master’s degree in 1940. In 1946, he went to study in the Department of Geography, University of Liverpool, England. He returned to China as a professor of Yanjing University in 1949 and a professor of construction department and a member of the Beijing Municipal Planning Commission of Tsinghua University in 1952 Ren Peking University Department of Geography and geography, 1980 was elected academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, 1984 was awarded the University of Liverpool honorary doctorate of science in 1998 was named a senior academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Major works include “Theory and Practice of Historical Geography”, etc. The chief editor of “Beijing Atlas of History” won the first prize of Outstanding Achievements in Humanities and Social Sciences in Colleges and Universities in 1995 and was awarded “George Davidson” medal by the American Geographical Society.
