We all know that after people make decisions, they not only tend to exaggerate their benefits, but also exaggerate the disadvantages of the choices they have rejected. Spike Lee of the University of Michigan wants to see if washing hands will affect the process by which people prove that their choice is correct. He first asked 40 students to rank 10 CDs according to their preference, and then let them select one of the 5th and 6th ranked CDs and take them for themselves. He then asked half of the students to use a hand sanitizer to wash their hands and evaluate their quality, while the other half only evaluated the quality of the hand sanitizer by observation. In the end, all students were asked to rank 10 CDs again.
