The Effect of Send/Receive Dual Channel Parameters on Polarization Parameters Measurement

The dual-linear polarization radar is what China will popularize gradually following the Doppler radar technology.Following the Doppler radar technology,the dual-linear polarization radar,which has been widely applied to enhancing modem weather radar system,becomes more and more popular in China.Microphysical characteristics of hydrometeors,such as differential reflectivity,specific differential phase,and zero-lag correlation coefficient,are usually provided by the radar.Brought by the angular orientation of the feed,drop canting,and backscatter depolarization,however,inevitable measurement errors exit because of the unwanted horizontal and vertical wave coupling.Since small errors in these sensitive parameters may lead to erroneous judgment,both the factors themselves and their weights of influence should be studied specifically,with the mode of simultaneous transmission and reception of horizontally and vertically polarized waves.The study provides theoretical basis for the design of dual polarization Doppler radar,and will be helpful in the research of cloud,precipitation physics,and weather modification.
