Today, 1847, Charlotte Bronte’s Jane Eyre was published. I was mostly fascinated by the Victorian literary works, but Jane Eyre touched me, but before I read other novels. Jane Eyre is more than just a romantic Gothic-style novel, an educational novel, a story about growth. In many ways, it created a precedent for this type of novel because the author is a woman and the woman’s inner life is also written. So women’s thoughts and feelings are revealed. Charlotte has been called “the first personal record of consciousness ”. I like Jane Eyre because she is an unnatural actress. She is not pretty, and can only be said to look very ordinary. She is always at a disadvantage, so readers are always on her side.
