Literary works are the true portrayal of real life. Children's literature is a mirror of contemporary children and families, which can reflect outstanding social issues and family relationships. Based on the introduction of three children's books in the pre-Showa period, Showa period and Heisei period, this paper summarizes the changes of Japanese family relationships in various periods in light of the current national decree and social background. At the same time, it is suggested that writers of children's literature should not blindly construct the illusionary world and taboo the topic of taboo. Instead, they should guide children to correctly think about parent-child relationship and establish a positive attitude toward life.
