随着开放改革的深入和深圳特区经济的发展,在市旅游业广大干部职工的共同努力下,深圳旅游业从无到有、从小到大、迅速发展,旅游设施、旅游人才、旅游服务、旅游宣传以至旅游保险、旅游监察等都取得了一系列可喜成绩。1988年我市旅游系统的旅行社、旅游公司有24家,宾馆、酒店、度假村72家,旅店111家,招待所288家。全市旅业共有客房21383间、床位55699张。接待游客总人数574万人次(其中过夜366万人次),已经接近或达到国际化旅游城市香港或风景游览热点城市桂林去年接待游客总人数,可称得起是旅游界的后起之秀。深圳的旅游业也存在一些值得重视和尚待解决的问题,如我市旅游建设中硬件上得较快、软件上得较慢,现代化的旅游项目发展迅速、民族和地方特色的旅游项目发展迟缓,当前的旅游工作抓得较紧、旅游发展战略和方向的工作研究比较薄弱,等等,出现了许多旅游点吸引力下降、境外客源增长缓慢、旅游消费水平不高等现象,例如香港旅游年收入超过200亿港元,而深圳去年旅游收入只有4.7亿元,比起香港还有很大的差距。开拓深圳旅游新局面的任务还很艰巨。
