柔性制造系统(FMS),是现代机器制造业中的新型自动化生产设备。它是为填补占机器制造中70%以上的中小批量生产自动化的空白而发展起来的,到目前仅有十几年的历史,但却引起了国内外有关部门和企业的普遍重视,是当前国内外机床行业开发研究的中心课题。对其未来的发展虽有不同的议论,但普遍认为,FMS的技术水平,将标志该国在国际市场上的竞争能力。因此各工业发达国家大都采取由政府投资或资助的办法开展研究工作,推动其发展。这充分说明了FMS技术的重要性。这种生产设备是由通用的数控机床、专用数控机床及机械加工中心机床等,以及与之相应的控制系统、运输储存系统组成的多品种中小批量加工自动生产线。其基本功能有三大部分:即加工或装配功能,与加工或装配功能有机结合在一起的运输储存功能,以及将这两者软结合在一起的软件功能。
Flexible Manufacturing System (FMS) is a new type of automated manufacturing equipment in the modern machinery manufacturing industry. It was developed to fill the gap of more than 70% of small and medium-sized production automation in machinery manufacturing.
