美国,不是天堂。如若不信,请读此文。首先,本文的标题就值得我们咀嚼一番,何等精彩,尤其是动词swing,swing者,“摆动;摇摆”也,如:swinginghis arms/挥动他的手臂。但本标题却不能直译(精神病患者在监狱和医院之间摆动),我们只能译成:精神病患者的出路;监狱和医院。 本文的重要信息: Of the estimated 5.6 million people with severe mental illness currently livingin the Unital States,some 2.2 million are believed not to be receiving anytreatment.(美国现在有严重的精神病患者五百六十万,其中二百二十万没有得到任何的治疗！) Few of our patients are ever going to be able to hold down regular jobs but ifthey can stay out of jail and live in one place with a roof over their heads,and theyare not harming themselves or others.(我们的病人中很少有人能得到一份固定的工作,假如他们能够走出监狱,并“上有片瓦”,他们就不会去伤害他们自己或是别人。) 一个称作Project Link的组织正向严重精神病患者伸出援助之手,但是,这仅是杯水车薪之举！唉,美国！】
