广西是我国南方主要林区之一,全区林业用地1.98亿亩,占土地总面积的55.64％,其中宜林地为1.53亿亩。全区自然条件优越,植物种类资源丰富,林业在这里是一个优势产业。党的十一届三中全会以来,广西林业建设发生了巨大变化:全区有林面积从1981年的4000多万亩上升到1990年的9030多万亩;森林覆盖率由1979年的22.01％上升到25.34％。1992年,全区完成荒山造林面积1220.5万多亩,为年计划的149％;完成封山育林1706.7万亩,
Guangxi is one of the major forest areas in southern China. The total area of forestry land in the region is 198 million mu, accounting for 55.64% of the total land area, of which 153 million mu are suitable for forests. The region has superior natural conditions, rich plant species resources, forestry is a dominant industry here. Since the Third Plenary Session of the 11th CPC Central Committee, great changes have taken place in the forestry construction in Guangxi Province: the area of forested area in the whole region has risen from more than 40 million mu in 1981 to more than 90.3 million mu in 1990; the forest coverage rate has increased from 22.01% Rose to 25.34%.
