Drip Irrigation Drip irrigation is a system of small-diameter plastic pipes buried underground or on the ground, using electronic instrumentation and automatic control to regularly supply water and nutrients according to crop needs. With the production of cheap plastic pipes in the past decade, drip irrigation has been widely used in agricultural production in hot and dry areas. In 1970, Australia had 60,000 acres of drip irrigation. Britain, Italy, the United States, Japan, Mexico, etc. have all been used in the cultivation of vegetables and orchards, horticulture and field crops such as cotton, soybeans and corn. Drip irrigation has the advantage of saving labor while reducing the loss of water such as seepage, evaporation and runoff, and thus saving water by 2%
