In late July, Intel will showcase its new workstation blueprint and 3D graphics technology to the public. This new workstation specification and the latest graphics technology called “AGP Pro” will enable systems based on Windows NT and Intel hardware architectures to deliver higher system performance in professional graphics. While sales of NT workstations have been on the rise in recent years, most of the sales are concentrated on a few less demanding users of graphics such as financials and businesses. In order to attract those who require more system requirements, Intel is involved in more system-level design tasks to improve system performance while reducing costs. Another purpose of Intel is also to compete with established, high-end Unix workstation vendors such as Sun Microsystems. The veteran Unix vendor SGI also said it will adopt Intel’s architecture in its workstation products and that some PC makers such as Compaq, Dell and IBM will also roll out new Windows-Intel-based workstations. AGP Pro is the latest version of AGP technology, especially for cooperation
