British history is very important to Chinese scholars studying foreign histories.In fact,the earliest Chinese effort to study and understand British history can be dated back to the Opium War.But the first multi-volume A History of England compiled and edited solely by Chinese historians did not appear until 2016.Led by Qian Chengdan,professor of history at Peking University and the then Chairman of China British History Association,this work of 2.5 million Chinese characters was written by a team of Chinese researchers specialized in British history,making it a substantiation of British history studies in China.
