诗歌的语言用法向来与其他文体迥异,在中国传统诗学中,这种偏离日常和散文语言的现象称之为“诗家语”。“诗家语”凝练生动,讲求对篇、章、句、字的锤炼,更赋予诗歌独特的句法和连接技巧,以利于在有限的篇幅中袁达深邃思想和悠远意境。它将汉语的长处发挥到了极致,汉诗之气韵流动、言近意远由此而生。但同时汉诗翻译之困也因之而起,要在个性迥异的英语语言中体现汉诗因“诗家语”而形成的“诗意、诗情、诗境”的起伏流动,殊难做到。本文通过分析中国古典诗词中“诗家语”在英译过程中与英语表现方式之间的凿枘难合,揭示汉诗翻译中的天然障碍,加强译者对诗词意蕴、组连技巧、审美功能的体悟,培养诗性思维,以提高汉诗英译的水平。
