AIM: To investigate the effect of nitric oxide synthase inhibitor N-nitro-L-arginine methyl ester on rat mesenteric lymphatic vessels. Methods: N-nitro-L-arginine methyl ester was injected into the femoral vein to observe the changes of the lymphatic vessels within 2 hours. The histological changes were observed by HE staining and enzyme histochemical staining. Results: It was found that intravenous injection of N-nitro-L-arginine methyl ester can make the diameter of lymphatic vessels thinner and increase the frequency of exercise. L-arginine can reverse this change temporarily. The lymphatic endothelial cells and tubes Nerve fibers on the wall contain nitric oxide synthase positive reaction products, note N-nitro-L-arginine methyl ester group of intestinal tissue HE section of central lamina propria central dilatation. That nitric oxide synthase may have an important regulatory role in the lymphatic circulation.
