US Eastern Time at 22:50 on March 6, 2009 (Beijing time at 11:50 on the 7th), the world’s first for detecting extrasolar planets “Kepler” space telescope in the southeastern United States Cape Canaveral, Florida, take the “Delta -2” launch vehicle off. The satellite was launched by a team of 20 students and 16 experts from the Atmospheric and Space Physics Laboratory (LASP) of the University of Colorado at Boulder, inside the LASP Space Technology Building at the University of Colorado Research Park. 65 minutes after the launch of the rocket, the “Kepler” space telescope began its orbit when it was about 721 kilometers (its orbital and orbital trajectory basically coincides with orbiting the Sun, with a period of about 372 days). It will be commissioned on this orbit for two months before its official launch.
