In the history of modern Chinese thought and culture, Yan Fu and Liang Qichao are two distinguished representative figures. One of them devoted themselves to translating books and systematically introducing the theory of social sciences in modern Western philosophy is the source of theory; one that is devoted to reporting and spreading western culture is the mother of public opinion. But the relationship between the two is very subtle. In the past, academics conducted rigorous research on Yan Fu’s allegory and accusation of Liang Qichao at the end of the Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China, but the reaction to Liang Qichao was basically not covered. This article begins with Liang An Introduction to Academic Studies in Qing Dynasty, starts from suspicion undoubtedly, and borrows the method of drying up the moon and clouds. By comparing Liang Qichao with other scholars of the same era, this article attempts to outline the existence of Liang’s works when discussing Yan Fu’s thoughts “Depression ” phenomenon, and analyzed Liang Qichao’s criticism of Yan Fu to maintain “silent” reason.
