炉外精炼技术自本世纪50年代问世以后,伴随着钢铁工业的发展,取得了长足的进步.尤其在特殊钢领域,日本、美国及西欧国家采用炉外精炼工艺生产的不锈钢产量已占总量的90%以上,一些工业发达国家采用炉外精炼生产的钢产量也已占总量的50%。炉外精炼的目的不外乎两个:一是提高钢水的质量,去除钢水中的气体和夹杂物,添加必要的合金,调整温度及成分均匀化;二是提高初熔炉的生产率,把在初熔炉中处于低负荷运行状态的操作移到初熔炉外进行。
