我們懷着嘗試的心情,來開闢了機械介紹這一個專欄。在今日的工業世界中,各種機械的設計和製造,無論是工作母機或作業機械,都不斷地有著新的方式、結構、和姿態產生着。從基本的原理開始,經過無數人思索和操作的努力,每一種機械都在蛻變和進步。對於經常從事機械製造工作的人,每一種機械底創造、進化或蛻變的情形,都是不可缺少的資料。這些資料隨時可能和我們對各種機械了解、使用、乃至設計、製造的工作,發生着重要的關聯。而有時候,研究某一種機械改進的情形,更往往能啓發出我們對另一種機械的新的設想,其影響的範圍所及,可能是很廣大的。我們也體驗到在我們國內,今日有極多數在被使用或製造中的機械,其式樣和性能都是較落後的,設立本欄的目的,就是想在這兒介紹新式的、特殊的、和專門的機械。希望讀者在從事機械製造和設計的時候,可以從本欄獲得直接有關的材料,或是間接地由此引導出其他好的設計和改進。也希望本欄得到使一般讀者知道某種機械或工作,在現今發展的程度和將來的趨勢。本欄的內容,包括介紹工作母機和作業機械,但擬對於與機械製造事業關係最密切、影響最大的工作母機的介紹,要特別偏重些。在編輯方式方面,由於篇幅的限制,不能對每一枝節都作澈底的討論;預備對一般的比較普通的機械,把幾種新的式樣集中越來,並將其特點作簡,摘要的介紹和說明;對特殊的、專門的機械,困爲大多数讀者對之比較生疏,所以儘可能的作個別的、比較詳細的介紹。在作業機械方面,尤其應作有系列的敘述。 這一個專欄的編輯工作能否成功,主要有賴於讀者的幫助。我們竭誠的歡迎讀者同志們對它提出要求和意見,也迫切希望多多的撰寄稿件。少數人的所知所聞是有限的,只有廣大的讀者,才是本刊的真正編輯者。 With the feeling of trying, we opened up a column for introducing the machinery. The purpose of setting up this column is to introduce new, special, and specialties here. Machinery.
