After the Civil War, the United States entered the so-called “gold-plated era” (in the name of a novel by Mark Twain and Charles Warner), the economy was rapidly formed and the rich eastern industrial group controlled state politics. Trusts and monopolies occupying the business, factory and factory life have become even more important in the national economy.
