Hong Kong car license is composed of two English letters suffixed with four Arabic numerals, in principle, is issued in registration order. However, those “lucky numbers” which Hong Kong people think can bring good luck have been singled out by the municipal authorities in advance for auction. The maximum amount can be sold at more than 1 million Hong Kong dollars. The revenue of each auction is published and credited to the government’s revenue items. The name of the successful bidder is never disclosed, but if you see a sedan on the street with a “lucky number,” you can conclude that the owner must be rich, like a businessman or manager.
