The first International Aluminum-Lithium Alloys meeting was held in Stone Mountain, Georgia, USA on May 19-21, 1980. The conference included scientists and engineers from universities and industry, including material processing plants, aircraft manufacturers, the U.S. Navy And Air Force representatives, about 80 participants, opened two and a half days to discuss the advantages, problems and feasibility in the production, design and use of Al-Li-X alloy.Al-Li-X alloy has a low specific gravity The combination of a high modulus of elasticity with a stiffer aircraft component makes it an attractive alloy that is currently limited due to its low ductility and toughness.
