Elliot’s masterpiece The Waste Land is considered as a milestone in modernist poetry. “Wasteland” is very obscure, but still critics praise and readers favorable. Many myths and allusions in “The Waste Land” reproduce two kinds of mythical prototypes about the questions of “life and death” and the pursuit of “hope ”, and express the collective unconsciousness of mankind. The mythological prototype in The Waste Land stimulates the reader’s collective unconsciousness and resonates with the reader. The reader is still fascinated by it even if he does not understand the Waste Land.
