Since the new period, in the “Cultural Revolution” theme novels, the meaning and value of the folk with the peasants as the main body have been relatively silenced in the mainstream consciousness and the elite discourse of the intellectuals. Only in the 1990s did such novels restore the myth of “people ” created by the revolutionary ideological discourse to “folk ” which is self-suffering and ignorant. When writers turn the focus of narrative on to folk and rediscover the strength of civil opposition to the mainstream consciousness, their writing restores the folk life more.
