本文认为，现代新儒家提出的现代化不等于西化、传统文化可以适应现代化、儒家伦理有助于人格现代化等观点在思想理论界影响较大，具有一定的合理因素；但从根本上说，现代新儒学没有走出文化决定论的误区，未能摆脱文化保守主义的局限；恰当地估计现代新儒学的价值，它可以成为现代化进程的助力；否则，它将成为一种阻力。
This paper argues that the modernization proposed by modern Neo-Confucianism does not mean Westernization, that traditional culture can be adapted to modernization, that Confucian ethics contributes to the modernization of personality has a great influence in ideological and theoretical circles and has certain reasonable factors. But fundamentally speaking, Confucianism did not get rid of the errors of cultural determinism and failed to get rid of the limitations of cultural conservatism. Proper estimation of the value of modern Neo-Confucianism can aids in the process of modernization; otherwise, it will become a resistance.
