比起经济行为和生活方式,文化心态更直接更深刻地呈现着广州人的总体特征。它处于更深层,因而也更宽泛和“抽象”,在某种意义上甚至涵盖了经济行为与生活方式;但还没有抽象到理论形态,依然保留着生活的“原生状态”,活泼、跃动、敏感,映现着社会各个层面生动的嬗变;是一种群体的一社会的心理态势的呈示。它可以通过经济行为、生活方式等表现出来;还可以透过大众传媒,如广播、影视、广告等,体现出来。后一种体现,及由此关联到的文化心态与大众
