Sintered metal oil bearing is the world’s earliest production and use of the most widely used powder metallurgy products. Previous research on a medium-graphite-bronze bearing found significant differences between North American-made bearings and the same products made in Europe. To this end, North America, Europe and Japan to provide bearings, conducted a more detailed study. At least two bearing samples from two manufacturers and two different alloys are supplied in each region. Alloy range includes bronze, iron-copper and iron-graphite. The test results confirm previous findings that bronze bearings made in Europe and North American bearings made in Japan are not the same, and are now believed to be due to differences in copper-based powders. Iron-graphite bearings made in North America and Japan have also been found to have different crush strengths. The results of these studies were presented, including photomicrographs demonstrating different mechanical properties. In addition, the conclusions related to the international standard ISO 5755 are also evaluated.
