在万能铣床上铣螺旋槽,一般的挂轮方法是在分度头的侧轴和进刀丝杆之间挂轮如图1所示。挂轮公式是: 挂轮齿数比=工件导程/分度头定数×丝杆导程………………………(1) 用上面的挂轮方法,当工件导程较短时,就会因为挂轮齿数比太小而使挂轮发生困难。如果在分度头主轴内孔装上一个尾轴(和差动分度时用的尾轴相同)跟进刀丝杆以挂轮连接,就可以解决这个困难,如图2所示。因为分度头尾轴转数和工件转数相等,所以这种挂轮方法的原理和车床车螺纹挂轮方法的原理相同。挂轮公式是:
