高聚物中填料和增强剂的表面改性所应用的偶联剂,往往是通过改善交界面两端的粘结,来提高复合材料的机械强度和抗化学性能。虽然粘结对于任何“偶联”机理是主要的,但是却有许多因素都要影响复合材料体系的总性能。偶联剂通常有双重反应能力,因为它们含有附属基团,能够与树脂和填料的表面反应。复合材料稳定性表现在经过偶联剂的作用,与树脂和填料之间共价键的强度有密切关系。虽然确切的键合机理也许仍是有争论的,但可以认为偶联剂的有机官能团部分是与树脂反应,并与树脂整体形成共价结合。
Coupling agents used in the surface modification of fillers and reinforcements in polymers tend to improve the mechanical strength and chemical resistance of the composites by improving the adhesion between the two ends of the interface. Although bonding is the primary concern for any “coupled” mechanism, there are many factors that affect the overall performance of the composite system. Coupling agents usually have a dual ability to react because they contain accessory groups that react with the surface of the resin and filler. The stability of the composite material through the role of the coupling agent, and the resin and filler covalent bond strength is closely related. Although the exact bonding mechanism may still be debated, it is believed that the organic functional group portion of the coupling agent reacts with the resin and forms a covalent bond with the resin as a whole.
