Port of Muscat, Delaware, uses cranes as remote control technology to increase production and work comfort at two container terminals, making it the first European port to have driver-free operation on container shore berths 25 September 2012 - The world’s leading ABB, a power and automation technology group, recently won contracts from two major container terminal operators APM Terminals and Rotterdam World Gateway (RWG) to provide an automated system for its new container quayside. ABB’s system allows remote control of the crane without the need to have a driver on board, resulting in a significant increase in overall efficiency. The two new wharfs in Muskela Croft, Rotterdam will be operational in 2014 and will be the first in Europe to implement Remote Control Technology for Container Terminal (STS)
