In recent years, the cross-Strait relations have been so complicated that cross-Strait policy has also seen continuous new developments. People are increasingly in urgent need of understanding the dynamics of the Taiwan issue through the media. The developments and changes in the situation and policies have a profound impact on the choice of newspapers in the Mainland, the way in which news is reported in Taiwan, and the building of Taiwan’s image. This article takes the “Global Times” from 2010 to 2012 as the research object and explores how to build Taiwan’s image through the selection of news topics and reporting methods in Taiwan in this newspaper through content analysis. The survey found that in general, the Global Times coverage on cross-Strait relations is closely related to the political situation across the Taiwan Strait, while the reports on Taiwan are mainly based on negative political reports. Both of them are biased in terms of subject matter selection and language coding.
