The digestion of the ritual of life, the resistance to the sense of meaninglessness in life, and the doubts about the sense of self-worth are the basic notes of Dazai Zhizhi’s short story “the wife of Villon.” In the ups and downs of the war, the hero Otani in the text as a declining aristocracy and poet, a rogue and decadent, desperate and struggling, corrupt and fear. Regardless of the poet’s wife, or a small restaurant couple, in the life of the dilemma, they use the self-deprecating person, or positive and life singing, or negative to life compromise. In this paper, the protagonist’s mental outlook in the times and the description of the morbidities in the text are placed in the context of nihilistic discourse to explore the multidimensional implications of texts and the author’s spiritual aspirations.
