“Live steers” is one of Susanne Pritchard’s masterpieces. It is a product of the continuous development and enrichment of Australian literature on the nationalistic literature during the two world wars. The book shows the natural environment in Western Australia and the living conditions of local forestry workers after World War I, and elaborates on the physical and spiritual traumas suffered by lumberjacks. The theory of ecology opened up a new perspective for the study of this work. This article analyzes the anthropomorphism of nature, the critique of anthropocentrism and the introspection of machine production, demonstrating the inseparable relationship between man and nature and the reverence for nature.
