一、地域相近、干线相同,腹地相叠以及其他方面存在的共性是广西沿海主要港口——北海、钦州、防城三港联盟的基础和前提北海、钦州、防城三个港口同属东南亚邻国与我国西南地区所形成的两个扇面的枢纽位置。三个港口距离较近,广西滨海公路通车后三港相距不到100公里,北、钦、防三港在钦州湾形成一个三角形的港口布局,人称为“金三角”。三个港口之间海陆交通非常便利。三港除了肩负各自城市及周边货物进出口外,还要把揽货的重心放在最有潜势的西南地区大宗矿产资源上。然而三港接纳西南地区的货源进出都是沿着基本相同的铁路干线南昆、黔桂、枝柳、湘桂和公路干线重庆到广西沿海城市的高等公路,因此,广西沿海三港主要经济腹地同属我国西南地区诸省市。北、钦、防三港同属一个行政区(省),有利于区(省)政府主管部门对三港联盟前后的行政管理和协调,早在90年代初广西
