There are commonalities in the use of euphemism between English and Chinese languages: 1. When both languages involve sex, sexual organs, and words related to defecation, euphemisms are used; 2. For sensitive topics such as occupation, personal privacy, and politics, euphemisms are used because they are inconvenient or do not want to speak. Due to differences in the natural environment, social environment, and cultural environment, there are differences in the use of English and Chinese euphemisms: there are euphemisms for ghosts and goddesses in English; there are taboos on privilege and ancestors in Chinese; there is a unique euphemism for “old” in English. call.
