The authority of the parents represented by Haro in the novel “Clarissa” and the philosophy of slaves represented by Lavres are the mainstream ideologies of British society in the 18th century. They want to call Clarissa as the presupposed subject mode. In this “War ”, Clarissa has always paid attention to self-construction. The formation and development of her subjective consciousness is a process of tolerance and conflict with the existing social discourse, and eventually abandon the call. She has neither become a passive, stylized gender role without deterrence to the authority of her parents, becoming a victim of property marriages and a bargaining chip for expanding family power, nor has she succumbed to Lavre’s obsessive philosophy.
