One of the representative works by contemporary Canadian writer Carol Shields tells the story of Jack and Brenda’s week-long detached life for ordinary American couples. From the perspective of literary ethics, this article analyzes the ethical relations contained in the book and explores Shields’ ethical concepts and ethical responsibilities through various ethical phenomena.
