Objective To investigate the relationship between delayed gastric emptying and gastric median band (MTB) in functional dyspepsia (FD) and its mechanism. Methods The stomach was divided into proximal and distal stomach with MTB as the boundary. SPECT technique was used to detect gastric emptying in 60 FD patients, 50 healthy controls (HS) and 15 normal high-dose volunteers. Area, the distribution of food in the stomach. Results Delayed emptying and residual rate increased in FD group. Half-row time and MTB area in normal high-dose group were prolonged. The distal stomach and MTB area in FD group were larger than HS group from beginning to end. Conclusions The delay of gastric emptying is related to the increase of MTB area. The distribution and retention of food in the distal stomach can cause gastrointestinal symptoms. MTB directly controls the transport, distribution and emptying of food in the stomach, which acts like atrioventricular valve .
