In a new issue of the U.S. Current Issue (Volume 12, No. 1, January 2006), the WHO writing group summarized recommendations for a nonpharmacologic intervention in the flu pandemic. The ideal preparation for a pandemic should include a drug-based confrontation method, but it is clearly not feasible to predict that there are more than 600 million people in the world in the future. Therefore, in the updated Global Influenza Prevention Program, WHO recommends non-pharmaceutical public health interventions. The purpose of these interventions is to reduce the exposure of susceptible individuals to infectious agents. This recommendation is only a guide, not a formal recommendation from WHO. It covers two main aspects: the non-drug intervention in the community and the local community as well as in the international community. By summing up scientific data, historical experience and modern observations, the recommended guidelines recommend that non-drug interventions outside health facilities be focused on the following measures
