Objective To study the relationship between low molecular weight polypeptide (LMP) gene polymorphism and the incidence of genital warts. Methods Polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) was used to detect the low molecular weight polypeptide genes LMP2 and LMP7 in patients with condyloma acuminatum and normal controls. Results The frequency of LMP2 * B allele was increased in patients with condyloma acuminatum (P <0.05). There was no significant difference in the frequency of LMP7 allele between the patients with condyloma acuminatum and control group (P> 0.05). The frequencies of LMP2 and LMP7 genotypes were significantly higher than those in control group The difference was not significant (P> 0.05). Conclusion LMP2 * B allele may be related to the incidence of genital warts.
