“I sincerely hope that my music will be popularized and promoted, and I sincerely hope that the number of people who love my music and comfort and support from my music can continue to increase,” wrote Peter Tchaikovsky. His ideal has been fully realized. The love of his people throughout the world has not diminished, but heightened, and will always be echoed in the hearts of all. There are tens of millions of articles and treatises about Tchaikovsky, but no article or treatise can replace the vivid narration of people who are familiar with the musician himself. It is for this reason that in commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the birth of Russian genius musicians, Companion magazine featured readers’ memoirs of Vladimir Poghov, director of the Petersburg Theater Management Office.
