Objective To investigate the correlation between sleep potentials and auditory events in elderly patients with partial epilepsy. Methods Sixty elderly patients with partial epilepsy (study group) and 60 healthy volunteers (control group) were selected from June 2012 to June 2014 in our hospital. The sleep EEG, Auditory event-related potentials were used to analyze the latency and amplitude of sleep parameters and auditory-related potentials in both groups. Results The total sleep time, number of awakenings, sleep latency, awake and sleep efficiency in the control group were significantly better than those in the study group (P <0.05). The P300 latency of the auditory group in the study group was significantly longer than that of the control group (P <0.05) (P> 0.05). There was a negative correlation between P300 and sleep efficiency and sleep time in the study group (r = -2.016, -3.022; P = 0.016, 0.023), and no significant correlation with other sleep parameters . Conclusion There is an abnormal sleep structure in the elderly patients with partial epilepsy. The latency of auditory event P300 is prolonged, and there is a certain relationship with sleep parameters.
