Zinc-containing neurons refers to a group of neurons that accumulate in the presynaptic vesicles and are released in a calcium-dependent and pulse-dependent manner. These are a subset of glutamatergic neurons, Mainly located in the telencephalon. Zn2 + is considered to be an endogenous neuromodulator, especially in glutamatergic excitatory synaptic transmission. Presynaptic nerve impulses can cause the simultaneous release of vesicular zinc and glutamate, so it is speculated that it regulates post-synaptic excitability and is involved in the developmental and experiential learning of synaptic plasticity
