跃华初学染织,后攻绘画,故多以花鸟为题,是有缘故的。跃华画国画,并画水彩,其水彩尤有特点.跃华的水彩其用笔用色与中国画之没骨神似,但也有不同。其不同处,是其情致。跃华多将花鸟置于一个现实而富象征的背景之中,借助空间,渲染晨烟夕霭,形成或疏淡,或苍凉,或冷峻,或萧森的氛围,实有几分戏剧性。或花或鸟,遂亦成为剧中的角色。铺排开的遂不止是一种情绪,亦同时在叙述一个有始有终的故事。很显然,这样的方式非中国所固有,它源自西洋,但在西洋画中,花就是花,鸟就是鸟,描绘其性状时,很少延伸出花鸟以外的情感变化。这样看来,跃华的方式很独特,有古有今,有中有西 因有今而与古有异,因有中而与西有别,终至于不古不今,又西又中。这也许就是很难具体描述的时代性。
