普通外科中所遇到的败血症多由于内毒素(Et)所致。由于近来内毒素检出法(toxicolor法、Es法)的进步和普及,内毒素败血症(Et血症)的诊断率正在提高。另外,最近认为肿瘤坏死因子(TNF)与多脏器衰竭(MOF)有关,目前正在进行内毒素发病机制的实验和临床研究。1975年据Old等报道,在血中找到了TNF引起小白鼠移植肉瘤缺血性坏死,而且在试管内显示有损害肿瘤细胞以及抑制其增殖的作用。TNF作为抗癌物质已引起人们的关注。TNF除有抗肿瘤作用外,也作用于各种组织和细胞,显示多种生物活性,是机体防御功能方面的重要的细胞激肽,是外伤、感染、大手术
